Community Garden

JardinCommunautaireThe Community Garden Porject is organized in partnership with Eco-Citizens of Edmundston. The garden is located near the New Brunswick Botanical Garden and is composed of many 20 foot x 4 foot plots. Each of these small gardens is managed by one or two individuals from the neighbouring community. Overall, more than 20 gardeners take care of their vegetables, from the plantation to the harvest period, during the entire summer season. They cultivate according to organic values and practices and also undertake a diversify-typed plantation.

In addition to favouring greater environmental management and a higher quality of foods that land in our plates, this project encompasses both a social and economic facet. It provides peaople with locally grown vegetables at low cost and above all, it favors exchanges and sharing between gardening passionate.

To add to the community aspect of the project, many collective plots are managed and the crops are donated to the Atelier R.A.D.O. located in Edmundston. The mission of this non-profit organisation is to alleviate poverty in the Madawaska County.

Compost bins have been generously donated by Northwest Regional Service Commission (NWRSC).

Have a great gardening season!
